About Us

Who is your Veterinary Nurse?

Our qualified nurses include Una Wall , Lorraine Dowty, Lisa O’Rourke, Lauren Grant, Catherine Lennon and Andrina Lyons. Nurses Una, Lorraine, Lauren and Lisa are qualified through the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in London and Catherine and Andrina studied for their qualification in UCD. They are trained to a high standard in all areas of veterinary nursing including being trained to carry out laboratory tests, radiographs, assist in theatre and care for patients recovering from surgery and illness.

They are qualified to carry out medical treatment e.g. setting up drips and administering medication and minor surgery e.g. suturing wounds. They are encouraged to attend regular Continuing Professional Development courses and hold certificates in areas such as Nutrition and Pet Health Counselling and Nursing of Exotic Species.

We are an approved vet nurse training centre for both UCD and Athlone Institute of Technology. Our student nurses include Emer Egan and Miranda Edge who are studying for their Diploma of Veterinary Nursing in UCD. Carol Cullen is in her final year studying to be a Veterinary Nurse in Athlone Institute of Technology. This is a three-year course and the UCD course is based on in practice training and eight weeks of college-based lectures to cover the theory side. Athlone is college based with sets of practice placements. While in practice they acquire a wide range of practical experience and skills e.g bandaging, and fluid administration. They have to record their experience in a portfolio and sit exams at the end of each semester. Gemma Campion PRVN  is completeing a FETEC Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Vet Nursing with St. Johns College, Cork & UCD which will give her the theory required to complement her many years practical experience. And we are pleased to say they have all passed their examinations with flying colours to date.

Our nursing auxiliary Abee Thomas has many years of of experience and is frequently furthering his skills by completing continuing professional development courses and attending events such as Feline Pain Management and Haematogy Analyser Training.

Our nurses are here to help and assist in any way possible. Please do not hesitate to phone or call in to our nurse’s clinics.
